TEXT: I took a weathered poster from my neighbourhood; Lansdowne and Bloor. The poster is of an ethnic music event - probably a samba band. It is the kind of poster you would usually see around here and so representative of the area. It is tucked behind the bus shelter of the southbound buses at the subway. Whenever I pass it, which is continually, I have this strong urge to preserve it.

This part of Toronto is going through change and much of its strong "multicultural diversity" is fading and eroding rapidly. I have always wanted to do a mass poster piece and this seemed the right occasion.

I photographed the poster; it's defacement already carried out by time, the weather and the community.

Through the language of urban decay, a glimpse of a fading era
